In the US there are two pieces of land indisputably blessed by the golf gods. One is the stretch of property in the Hamptons that includes Shinnecock, National, and Sebonic — the other Monterey Bay whose peninsula holds Cypress, Pebble Beach, and Monterey Peninsula County Club to name a few.
On this occasion I had the opportunity to visit and play MPCC’s Shore Course which runs along the Pacific ocean and all its glory. The course is fair and beautiful and fun to play. Of particular note in the par 3 eleventh hole which has one of the best (if not the best) vista in all of golf overlooking much of the course as well as the ocean. My photo below does not do the sight lines justice I am afraid.
My friends and I arrived a bit early for our tee time and were treated as members for the day by the very accommodating and golf-loving team in the proshop and dining room.
