Boston Golf Club is a must for any fan of the game. Gil Hanse took a hilly, rocky, sandy property and milked a golf course out of it in a natural and refined way.
The course is hard (or at least, I found it to be so) with a lot of drives that need to carry over a mess of brush. The course has goats on the property to eat through the brush and keep certain areas of vegetation contained (which I thought was a very clever solution).
The routing is great with a lot of effortless green to next tee walks which I love, where the next tee is just steps off the last green you played.
I wish I played it better, and next time, I think I would prefer to try and find one tee forward from the members tees where we played to make a few of the holes a little less difficult.
However, I “get” why this is a top 100 course for sure. It is a nice mix of Pine Valley, Old Sandwich, and Bandon Trails.
